As the nation observes Veterans Day, Alaska is taking particular pride: The U.S. Census Bureau says Alaska has more veterans per capita of its civilian adult population than any other state. Veterans make up nearly 17 percent of Alaska's population 18 years and older, compared with 11 percent of the nation as a whole, according to the American Community Survey issued by the Census Bureau in 2005.
