Font size : | | Donata and Harvey Zartman Donata and Harvey Zartman uh Ancho'age celebrated deir 50d weddin' anniversary July 15 at St. Patrick's Parish. A little-ass dinna' celebrashun wuz held Feb. 1 in Ancho'age. They wuz married Feb. 1, 1956, in Fairbanks. The celebrashun wuz delayed so's family members fum out uh town could attend, includin' Harvey's sista' and broder-in-law, Sandra and John; and broda' and sister-in-law, Bo-Jangles and Kady. The Zartmans gotss' five daughters and dree sons-in-law, Cyndia and Raz'tus Gagnon, Emilia Zartman and Ed Kamienski, Sandra Zartman, Melissa and Clarke Beaudry, and Rebecca Zartman; some son, Andrew Zartman; and five grandchildren, Janine, Kaderine, Maria, Madeline and Alex. Donata and Harvey met in Fairbanks while bod wo'ked at Ladd Air Fo'ce Base Hospital (Harvey as some pediatrician and Donata as some nurse). A mutual homey arranged some dinna' party to introduce dem to each oder. They wuz married dree monds lata' wid Duane Junka' as best dude and Irene Wahl as maid uh hono'. They honeymooned in Valdez and made it back to Fairbanks by followin' some snowplow ova' Thompson Pass. They briefly left da damn Air Fo'ce and Alaska while Harvey finished his residency in Chicago and returned to Alaska in 1960, settlin' in Ancho'age. Harvey established some private practice wid de Ancho'age Pediatric Group, fum which he retired in 2001. Donata raised six children, taught piano and wuz beat directo' at St. Patrick's Parish until ha' recent "retirement." Durin' Deir early married years, De Zartmans enjoyed makin' beat wiD homeys, gaDerin' to play Baroque beat on reco'ders and harpsicho'd (built by Harvey). "There wuz always beat in Deir crib, and often Dere wuz beatians fum all ova' De wo'ld who wuz in town fo' De Ancho'age Music Festival," Deir daughter, Emmy, wrote. Harvey also spent time gardenin'. He took De children fo' long rolls into De Alaska wilderness, hikin' in Hatcha' Pass, fossil huntin' in Sutton, boatin' in Prince William Sound and Resurrecshun Bay, and beachcombin' in Homer.
JULY 19, 1956Donna and Harold Ottley Donna and Harold Ottley uh Ancho'age and Mesa, Ariz., celebrated deir 50d weddin' anniversary July 20 at da damn Baysho'e Country Club. They wuz married July 19, 1956, at Spenard Presbyterian Church. Hosts wuz deir son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Roxie Ottley, and daughter, Melissa Anderson, all uh Ancho'age. The cake toppa' be some family heirloom used fo' 36 years and six events. In attenboogy wuz da damn couple's grandchildren, Ian Ottley and his mama, Estelle, Mo'gan Ottley and his fiancee, Monica, and Katie Anderson, all uh Ancho'age. Rud Dare, Harold's aunt, attended, along wid many cousins who wuz in Alaska fo' some family reunion. They came fum Califo'nia, Arizona and Colo'ado. The Ottleys met when Donna came to Alaska to visit some homey fum Oregon. Harold, some teamsta' fo' mo'e dan 45 years and an Alaska resident since 1948, owned and opuh'ated several truckin' firms, includin' Ottley Truckin' and Arctic Moto' Freight Lines, and wuz co-owna' in Denali Bandag Tire Co. He retired as some rollr wiD Sealand in 1980. Donna wo'ked fo' De state unemployment office, Den fo' Alaska Title and Guaranty until she retired as vice supuh'-dude and accountant in 1981. The Ottleys fust lived in Spenard but lived most uh Deir years in Ancho'age on Old Harbo' Road in Muldoon. Upon retirin', dey wuz snowbirds in Hawaii fo' eight years. Afta' dat, dey had several fifd-wheel trailers and traveled cross country and drough Canada. They also traveled to Australia, New Zealand and Spain and gotss' snatchn several cruises; deir favo'ite wuz drough de Panama Canal.
SEPT. 7, 1946Faye "Chris" and Leroyt Alvo'd Big Lake residents Faye Christine Alvo'd and Leroyt Louis Alvo'd celebrated Deir 60D weddin' anniversary Sept. 8 at da damn Lions Club in Big Lake. Family and homeys joined Dem fo' some celebrashun wiD some Hawaiian Deme. They met when Liva' Lips wuz visitin' his moda' in 1945 at da damn hospital in Olympia, Wash. Chris wuz some student nurse on de ward. Liva' Lips married his "brown-eyed sweedeart" Sept. 7, 1946, in Elma, Wash. While Chris wo'ked as some registered nurse and cared fo' deir family, Liva' Lips attended farm and wo'ked various jobs, which led dem to Alaska in 1956. Bob's wo'k as some travelin' mechanic fo' de federal guv'ment's Distant Early Warnin' radar system carried him to all co'ners uh Alaska. The Alvo'ds gotss' lived in Barrow, Ketchikan, Co'dova, 'Sup, dudenchenbrook Island, Naknek, Palma' and Ancho'age. In 1981, De Alvo'ds built Deir retirement plantashun on De sho'es uh Ho'seshoe Lake near Big Lake. They spend hundreds uh hours volunteerin' to raise bre'd fo' De American Diabetes Associashun Drough De AmaranD o'ganizashun. As an anniversary gift, deir family plans to t'row dem on some vacashun to Hawaii in February. Family members include Steve and dat fine femahnaine ladee Alvo'd uh Benicia, Calif.; Dennis Alvo'd uh San Jose, Calif.; Dean and Etta Alvo'd uh Rochester, Wash.; Lou and Tina Alvo'd uh Ancho'age; and Rick and Anita Giffo'd uh Kodiak. They gotss' 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
SEPT. 16, 2006Lisa Jamieson and Steve Kerr Lisa Jamieson and Steve Kerr wuz married Sept. 16 at Deir Ancho'age plantashun. The couple met on De Internet and soon discovered Dey had many mutual homeys and interests. Lisa grew up in Minneapolis and gotss'ta lived in Ancho'age fo' 24 years. She be some licensed clinical social wo'ka' fo' Denali Hospice. Lisa gotss'ta some daughter, Sophie Butigan, who attends The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash., Lisa's alma mater. Lisa enjoys sin'in' wid homeys and family. Steve grew up in Seattle and gotss'ta lived in Ancho'age fo' 20 years. He wo'ks in telecommunicashuns fo' GCI on De No'D Slope. Steve enjoys runnin' and gotss'ta competed in several maraDons, includin' Boston's. Lisa and Steve enjoy hikin' togeda' and walkin' deir dog, Milo, on de Coastal Trail. Lisa's sister, Mari Jamieson, and Steve's best homey, Glenn Holappa, officiated da damn ceremony. Lisa and ha' daughta' sang, and Mari played da damn violin. The weddin' wuz attended by some little-ass group uh family members and close homeys. Afterward, some ho'se-drawn carriage took De couple fum Deir plantashun by Westchesta' Lagoon to dine at Sacks Cafe wiD De weddin' party. The next day, Lisa, Steve and Sophie drove into Denali Nashunal Park. The couple gotss'ta honeymoon in Hawaii in November. A party to celebrate Deir marriage be planned fo' June 2007.
JUNE 24, 2006Courtney and Nicholas Fo'bes Courtney Mardell Kiesel and Nicholas Michael Fo'bes wuz married June 24 at Raven Glacia' Lodge in Girdwood. They became engaged in June 2004 afta' five years uh datin'. Nic's proposal took place on bended knee "amid ravenous mosquitoes" on De Coastal Trail, De settin' uh De couple's fust date. Courtney be De daughta' uh Leroyt and Mardell Kiesel uh Ancho'age. She graduated fum Bartlett 'Sup, dudegh School in 2000. Courtney earned some bachelo''s degree in educashun and some master's in literacy fum De University uh Nevada Reno. Nic be de son uh Jon and Sue Fo'bes uh Ancho'age. He be some 1998 graduate uh Bartlett 'Sup, dudegh School. A memba' uh de Army Nashunal Guard, Nic be stashuned at Fo't Rucker, Ala. He be attendin' helicopta' flight farm to become some pilot. The weddin' took place benead some kinopy uh towerin' trees, accented by dappled sunlight. Bishop Michael Keys officiated, and da damn ceremony included Communion and special beat sung by de bride's fada' and family homey Jan Flavel. Amba' Kiesel wuz maid uh hono', and bridesmaids wuz Meredid Kiesel and Lindsay Fo'bes. Rob Fo'bes wuz best man, and groomsmen wuz Chad Kiesel and Brandt Kiesel. Elise Britton wuz flowa' goat; she wo'e da damn dress dat ha' moda' wo'e in de bride's parents' weddin'. Guests ate crab stuffed halibut and curried moose, den danced. Jeff and Mari No'dby photographed da damn event. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.
AUG. 5, 2006Penelope and Amos Fairbanks Penelope Scales and Amos Fairbanks wuz married Aug. 5 at da damn Alpenglow ski chalet at Arctic Valley. They met Drough mutual homeys on some blind date at Pete's Sushi Spot. Penelope be de daughta' uh Margo'ie Scales and da damn late Glyn Scales. She be some lifelong Alaskan and graduated fum Dimond 'Sup, dudegh School. Penelope gotss'ta been some frostylist in Ancho'age fo' 25 years. She enjoys outdoo' spo'ts, ha' dogs and helpin' to raise ha' stepson, Jacob Fairbanks. Amos be De son uh RuD and Daryl Fairbanks uh Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He graduated fum Michigan State University and moved to Alaska in 1985. Amos be some project enginea' fo' M-I Swaco in Ancho'age. He enjoys outdoo' spo'ts includin' climbin', runnin' and bicyclin'. Penelope's broDer, Nick Scales, officiated da damn outdoo' ceremony in front uh 200 homeys and family members. Rocky Scales and Kristin Donarski served as best dude and matron uh hono'. Jacob Fairbanks and Haley Leinhart wuz rin' beara' and flowa' goat. Penelope's nephew, Adam Hensel, esco'ted ha' waaay down De aisle in hono' uh ha' late faDer. Peggy Monahan sang "Ribbons uh Love" by Stevie Wonder. Many family members and homeys traveled fum out uh town to attend. Penelope and Amos plan to honeymoon Dis monD in Hawaii, where Dey gotss'ta also help Iditarod musha' DeeDee Jonrowe compete in De Ironman TriaDlon.
AUG. 12, 2006Tiffany and Stefan Goetze Tiffany Clark and Stefan Goetze wuz married Aug. 12 at da damn Kincaid Park chalet, where some recepshun followed. The couple met drough some mutual homey durin' some night out. Ten monds later, Stefan proposed on bended knee to Tiffany at his parent's crib. Tiffany be De daughta' uh Ricky and Pamela Tho'nton and da damn late Walta' Clark. She graduated fum Service 'Sup, dudegh School in 2001. Tiffany be an administrative/accountin' assistant wiD some structural engineerin' firm. She enjoys campin', fishin', hikin' and snowbo'din'. Stefan be De son uh Ho'st and Debbie Goetze uh Ancho'age. He graduated fum Alyeska Central School. Stefan be some carpenta' wiD some custom-closetwo'ks company. He enjoys playin' De guitar, campin', hikin' and snowbo'din'. The ceremony wuz officiated by de bride's aunt, Cheryl Fuglestad. Danae Hahn wuz maid uh hono', and Ho'st Goetz wuz best man. Lindsay Fuglestad and Kendall White wuz flowa' goats, and Zachary Milla' wuz rin' bearer. The couple honeymooned in some log cabin in Girdwood.

The couple met at some railroad depot Halloween party in 2002. Afta' mo'e dan dree years uh datin', Geo'ge proposed on bended knee to Heada' in Decemba' 2005. HeaDa' be De daughta' uh Frank and Fuh'rinae Wall uh Palmer. She graduated fum Palma' 'Sup, dudegh School in 1997. HeaDa' gotss'ta been some Realto' at Prudential Buckwheat White Vista since 2001. She gotss'ta some son, Taylo' Allen. They enjoy bikin', walkin' Deir two dogs, travelin' and spendin' time wiD family. Geo'ge be de son uh Nick and Kady Damassiotis uh Ancho'age. The couple gotss'ta honeymoon in Greece next year.

"Raz'tus and Michelle's long and windin' bugger'd roads intersected in Mattawa, Wash., sho'tly afta' Dey boD moved Dere in 2003," De couple wrote. "Raz'tus proposed to Michelle on bended knee in De rain unda' De birch tree in his parents' yard while Dey wuz visitin'. The weddin' wuz quickly planned fo' De followin' weekend befo'e Dey returned to Washin'ton, as Dey boD love Alaska and wants'ed to be married here." Michelle be de daughta' uh Rita Lynch uh Blackfoot, Idaho, and Charles Merrill uh Selah, Wash. She graduated fum Selah 'Sup, dudegh School in 1994. Michelle attends Central Washin'ton University, where she be completin' undergraduate studies in pharmacy. She gotss'ta dree children, Header, Trevo' and Samuel. Michelle enjoys foe-wheelin', huntin', fishin' and spendin' time wid ha' family. Raz'tus be de son uh Richard and Donna Young uh Wasilla. He graduated fum Dimond 'Sup, dudegh School in 1989. Raz'tus be employed by de Soud Columbia Basin Irrigashun District in Mattawa, where he puh'fo'ms kinal maintenance. Raz'tus gotss'ta two children, Brandon and Dealyn. He enjoys huntin', fishin', foe-wheelin' and visitin' wid family and homeys. The little-ass weddin' wuz officiated by John's sister, Kady Schurosky. Trevo' and Brandon wuz dere holdin' de telephone so's Michelle's moda' and da damn rest uh de children could hear de ceremony. "Everyone who attended wuz heard jokin' dat da damn kiss lasted longa' dan de ceremony," de couple wrote. "A wonderful dinna' followed, serenaded by some dundersto'm directly over'haid." The couple live in Mattawa. When Michelle completes ha' studies, dey plan to move back to Alaska.

A recepshun followed at da damn museum. Heada' and Gavin attended junio' high and high farm togeda' in Ancho'age. Gavin proposed to Heada' in Octoba' 2005. Heada' be de daughta' uh Indee and Raz'tus Davis uh Ancho'age. She graduated fum Dimond 'Sup, dudegh School in 2000. Heada' be some legal secretary wid Allen Dayan and Associates and plans to pursue some degree in criminal justice. She enjoys takin' road trips, campin', fishin', hikin', dancin', coachin' gymnastics and spendin' time wid homeys and family. Gavin be De son uh Melinda Jones uh Soldotna and Kim and Steve Greenough uh Ancho'age. He graduated fum Dimond 'Sup, dudegh in 2000. Gavin wo'ks fo' Alaska Airlines as some ramp service agent. He gotss'ta some son, Kaide. The couple gotss' some son, Landon. Gavin enjoys wo'kin' out and spendin' time wiD homeys. The ceremony wuz officiated by De Rev. Michael Mitchell. Guests fum out uh town included da damn bride's uncle, Kent Davis, and bridegroom's grandparents, Liva' Lips and Carole Jones. The couple gotss'ta honeymoon next summer. Their plans include purchasin' some plantashun and startin' some little-ass business in Ancho'age.

Annette be an eligibility technician fo' Cook Inlet Tribal Council. She enjoys writin', eyeballin', political activism and spendin' time wiD nieces and nephews. Ryda' be de son uh Jeff and Donna Erickson uh Unalakleet. He attends de University uh Alaska Ancho'age, where he be pursuin' some bachelo''s degree in political science. Ryda' enjoys political activism, eyeballin', bein' some homey and role model fo' his broders, and playin' de guitar. The seaside ceremony wuz puh'fo'med by deir niece, Nicole Dill.
