Residents of Barrow will get their last view of the sun for over two months on Saturday. That is if the skies are clear. The U.S. Weather Service staff in Barrow says the sun will rise at 12:38 p.m. and set quickly again at 1:46 p.m. Then it will not rise again until January 23rd.
All the schools in Barrow were shuttered and flights were canceled Monday as high winds and snow blinded drivers. Wind gusts of up to 53 miles-per-hour pummeled the Arctic Ocean community. Temperatures ranged from three to 19 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills to 20 below zero and colder.
