Diana K. Gula, 29 of Fairbanks, was arrested Saturday on a charge of driving under the influence. Alaska State Troopers stopped Gula at 2:06 a.m. for a traffic violation and determined that she was intoxicated.
Alaska State Troopers are trying to locate Amberlynn Aubrey Swanson, 16, of North Pole. Swanson, a runaway, was last seen in the area on Oct. 11. Swanson is 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
Democratic candidate Joe Thomas defeated Republican incumbent Sen. Ralph Seekins by a large margin Tuesday in the race for Senate District D. As of 10:45 p.m. last night, with more than two-thirds of precincts reporting, Thomas had won nearly 59 percent of the vote to Seekins’ 38 percent.
Opponents of the Alaska Gasline Now initiative - Ballot Measure 2 on the November 7 general election ballot - say the reserves tax is a bad idea that would delay construction of a gas line for years, and they're spending millions of oil company dollars to get that message to the public.
